Oxford maybe, but I knew a girl form high school went got her law degree from UCL immediately after finishing high school. It took her years to find a articling position and when she did it was with a second-rate sole practitioner who was himself also a foreign law school grad. She now works at one of those sleezy personal injury firms that runs those cheesy ads and the managing lawyer has never conducted a trial himself. You know who I am talking about.
Point is, Canadian employers don't seem to view UCL grads any different than say, Leicester. Definitely not in the same league as Oxford.
If your aim is to be in government, it's a different calculus than private.
Private firms seem to be more skeptical of policy roles, even in relevant subject matter. They prefer someone with an "interest" in the subject matter but who's picked up hard legal skills - even in a different subject.
