How will we be notified of acceptance?

Recommended Posts

I believe last year the first round got phone calls and after that emails (I am anxiously awaiting as well and was expecting there would be at-least a few offers out this week, and am surprised there are not)

I am sure everything is taking longer this year!

Last year they had phone calls further than the first round, actually - I got one in mid-January. But everything could be different this year (for instance, the Admissions Officer could be working from home and home might be too noisy to make phone calls from, etc.) As a result, no one should really infer anything.

Anxiety is very normal and hard to control voluntarily, so I won't tell you not to worry. However, in general you would do well not to found your anxiety on comparisons from last year or any other year!

Email? Letter? Through the application portal?

NB: I am a puddle of anxiety and other neuroticism.

I completely feel this. I have been obsessively refreshing my email all week.

Best of luck to you!!

I was really hoping to be notified by carrier pigeon or smoke signal, but I guess an email would suffice.

I mean, if they REALLY wanted us as students, they'd send acceptances via ouija board

If the head of admissions doesn't show up at our doors with bouquets of roses WE'RE NOT GOING

All of the above. In April I received an email with the letter, then the online status changed, then I received a phone call. You will know when you're in.

The admissions officer will almost always try to call you, regardless of when you're accepted, even if you get in off the waitlist. An email will usually come later.

Does everyone always get a letter? Or is it usually just email and phone call?

    • ISLR seems to be public law's spiritual successor given how almost everyone dislikes it right now.  On the topic of 1L rants, ISLR in theory could have been a great class.  However, the way it is taught turns people away from the content rather than engaging them, which I think defeats the purpose of having students respectfully engage with Indigenous issues in a legal context.
    • UVic publishes this demographic chart every year: https://www.uvic.ca/law/assets/docs/admissfinaid/LSAT-GPA Demographic Chart.pdf All but two matriculants scored 159 or higher, and the two that didn't had 4.0+ GPAs.
    • Alright so I calculated a 0.819, is that accurate with my scores?  3.7/4.0 - so the ratio difference between 4/4.3 1.075 so I can just multiply 3.7 x 1.075 to figure out my 4.3 score correct?  So it would be 3.97/4.3.  LSAT: 160  I think I calculated right, if I'm wrong please someone let me know!

    • Although my ideal school is UBC in this case would you recommend going to TRU law because any law school in Canada is essentially good enough, or take a year off and improve my LSAT score to go to UBC?
