Prof Mistake on Reference Letter

Recommended Posts

The professor that I am using as one of my references just sent me a copy of the letters he submitted to OLSAS and UofC, and it appears as though he made a couple of errors. First off, he stated that I received an A+ in his course when I actually only received an A, and secondly he dated it wrong (wrote Oct.10 instead of Oct.1)

I'm mostly concerned about the A+ instead of the A, will admissions look down upon this at all? Should I do anything to clarify it with them?

I wouldn’t be concerned about it. I doubt admissions would even notice with the amount of applications they need to look through, and even if they did that’s not a reflection on you.

Yeah, just leave it.  No one will notice the grade and if they did, they will just assume it was a mistake.  With regards to the date, no one would possibly care about that.

Ya, I don't think it matters because most people don't even get to review their reference letters because of confidentiality so even if he made a mistake, the blame wouldn't be attributed to you because how would you know?

    • From my understanding, Osgoode’s actual bursary application does not open until the first week of classes.    The early bursary notification application, which is filled out prior to the start of law school, only tells you whether you are likely to receive bursary funding should you apply. It doesn’t tell you the likely quantum of funding.    As such, missing the deadline for this early bursary notification program should not exclude you from receiving funding since you actually apply for this at the beginning of term.    Unless the process is different than last year or the year prior, there’s no need to worry!
