Hi all,

Does anyone know if upper year students create a Facebook group for incoming students?

Yes, it’s been done every year so far, so I can’t see why your year would be any different. No clue who would be making it, or when, though.

There is also a general page for all students past and present which you’ll be able to join as well. You could always ask there and one of the 3Ls will let you know about the 2022 page.

I'm assuming the verification email is directing you to a facebook page that shows an error?

I'm having the same problem and it isn't just for this page. Apparently it is an issue with facebook from what I can tell and from a quick google search there seems to be quite a few people with a similar issue, unfortunately nobody seems to have a good answer or fix from what I can see. I will update if I can figure it out.

Anyone else not receive the confirmation email when trying to access the Facebook page? Not going to my spam folder either.

Hey Incoming 1Ls! Justis from the LSS checking in. I checked with one of the admins of the group and they tell me that once you've confirmed your Lakehead email address, you should try to re-send the request. Evidently, that's been working out for a few students who may have requested to join the group before their email was confirmed. If you're still having trouble, we'll try to figure something else out!

Looking forward to meeting everybody!

Still having trouble getting the confirmation email to send! Not in inbox or spam, even after clicking resend a couple times. Are any others not able to receive the email?

    • My JP went to Mexico for a bachelor's party during reading week in 1L and did just fine. I stayed home so I got some studying done, but nothing too intense. Maybe a few readings.  I would play it by ear. If you're quite behind on your readings then I wouldn't go, but taking that week off most likely won't affect your grades so long as you're working at a steady pace for the rest of the semester. Also know of quite a few others who went on vacations during reading week and it seems that they did well. TL;DR go see your family unless you're really behind.
    • hey! I am a 2L looking for a roommate. Message me if interested.

    • Choosing a school/program specifically to minimize one's chances of getting rejected from law school is not worth it, in my opinion. OP, if you do plan on going into business at U of A though, you should still look into the various leadership opportunities, case competitions, internships, and possibly the PRIME Program. Not because U of A law would be impressed by them, but because undergrad should be much more than just a pre-law program.  That being said, discrete math might be a course you would be interested in since it can be helpful for the LSAT.
    • My OASIS updated on July 19th saying I’ve been removed from the waitlist due to accepting another offer. Bummed my Osgoode dreams are over but grateful to be going to law school. Wishing everyone still on the waitlist all the best  my fingers are crossed for you! Hopefully this opens another spot for you all.
