Osgoode Email and York MyMail

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I have paid my deposit fee two months ago, I have firmly accepted my offer more than half a month ago, and I have set up my Passport York Account a week ago, but I still don't receive my Osgoode email account yet. When I check the Osgoode Email and Web Access Information on OASIS, it still writes "Stay tuned for more information about your new Osgoode email account and Passport York account." Does anybody has the same situation?

Besides, when I set up my Passport York account, the online instructions says that "students can have a centrally-supported @yorku.ca email account, called MyMail. This account may be used for official correspondence and may also be required for some courses. You may forward this email address to a personal email address, but if you do you are responsible for ensuring that you can receive any forwarded messages." And we should “Use Manage My Services to activate or view details about your MyMail service.” But there's no choice for MyMail service on my Manage My Services. How about yours?

Moreover, the admission package indicates that the detailed admission information and a digital Registration package will be sent to us in an email in July, does anyone know which email account will this information be sent to? Is the Osgoode email or the Mymail([email protected]) or our own email account?

Last question, does anybody know when and how can we pay our first year‘s tuition fees?

Thank you!

Hi there!

I have the same issue (not having received my Osgoode email login information). I emailed Vicky about it and she replied to be saying that we will not be receiving our Osgoode email information until July, or a little bit sooner. So I would not worry about it now. With this being said, I would assume that the registration package will be sent to our personal email.

With regard to your last question, I am not positive how we pay our tuition fees, although I am sure the digital Registration package will provide us with this information.

My question to this is - how are we to apply for Osgoode Chambers if we don't receive our Osgoode email until July?

Thank you for your reply!

I guess I also have to wait a little longer for the set up of York Mymail service?Don't know whether we will use Osgoode email or York Mymail more regularly in the future, or both.

Hoping that everything will be ready by July.

    • I took it 3 times back to back and now i'm finishing up 1L at UVic. As long as you keep improving on your scores, you should be fine June 2017 - 149 Sept 2017- 153 December 2017 - 163
    • Also a 0L and looking to do the same thing so these are the two (more relevant to the law books) that I have found. The first is a really interesting one called "Is Eating People Wrong?" Its written by Allan Hutchinson (also a current or former Osgoode Prof) and it goes over some really notable legal cases from across the world that helped shape Common Law (Like Brown v Board of Ed. etc.) . Most of the cases are super weird (like the first one discussed, which influenced the title) and theres a bit of legal analysis thats included on them but not in a way that I'd say would impact you negatively like pre-reading textbooks would.  One I just ordered is "Women in Criminal Justice: True Cases By and About Canadian Women and the Law" which again would include interesting info, and likely some legal jargon to help familiarize yourself with the language, but I'm assuming also would not negatively impact your studies.    *Edit* Just realized someone else recommended Is Eating People Wrong, but that just shows how good it is!
    • I'm still waiting, been "under evaluation" since December. I have a 3.25, 3.73, 164 LSAT and an MA. This is my second cycle applying to Ottawa in the Access category. I was waitlisted last year with a much lower LSAT score. Anyone else still waiting in Access? I hope to be at least waitlisted with a more favourable number this year. I have already provisionally accepted UNB so it's not the end of the world if I don't get in, but I'd like to go to UOttawa or Queens over UNB if I had the option. I called an admissions officer last week and they said they had a lot of Access applications this year, and they didn't have the majority of files finalized until after January, so there may be a bit of a delay.
