Toronto Article - Early Graduation

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm currently in 2L planning to graduate a term early (Fall 2019). I have a summer position in Waterloo but my goal is to article Downtown Toronto and move to Toronto. I'm wondering how I may go about doing this. From my understanding, I would be articling earlier than most in my call year and I'm not sure if articling positions would be posted with a January start date. I am interested in corporate law and assume I will have to reach out to various firms/in-house placements but I was hoping to gain some input or advice.

Thanks!!

Coming from McGill (a 3.5 year program in which most students finish their degrees at the end of Fall semester), my sense is that the bigger firms will have very little interest in taking you on early. Smaller firms with less well organized articling programs may be more flexible but not necessarily so.
