Accepted sometime today via email. Waiting on 2 other schools before making a decision! Super happy with an Ontario acceptance though :)

cgpa 3.5

L2 3.73

LSAT 161

EC/LOR/PS tailored to each school I applied to, and focused very much on international/transnational advocacy.

Big Congratulations! 😀What time did you hear back? I heard that the admissions committee only sees your grades, LSAT and that dual JD form. Did you send in additional material? Mine is marked as incomplete so I am wondering why? I emailed but they did not respond to that point.

Don't worry about the incomplete, its some sort of glitch with that website.  It will go directly from incomplete to accepted/rejected/waitlisted when they make the decision on your file.

Thank you! Do you send any supplementary material?

Thank you so much! I think sometime around 2? I think they see everything you send in, I did not attach any additional material as I only gave them what they asked for but like the helpful insight above, the incomplete is a glitch. I had a difficult time reaching Windsor via email, so I suggest if you are worried, try giving them a call?

To clarify, you only send in the Dual JD application form. Nothing else? Thanks your message was helpful!

Just got the email around 4:30pm today. I’m ecstatic - really didn’t know if I would get in with my low stats.

cGPA 3.2 LSAT 159

Lots of ECs, and strong reference letters.

Will be accepting.

Does anyone know if the classes are full yet? There seems to be a big break from the last wave of acceptances. My status still says 'Incomplete'

Mine does as well. The admissions office confirmed its an issue with then registrars office and not to worry. We would be hearing back mid-June.

Via portal or email? Also if you don’t mind what letter does your last name start with?

Through e-mail first, portal didn’t show up as “Admitted” until the following day.

Email first then portal shortly after, and L! Also will most likely be declining for another school in Ontario.

    • I don't think Chelsea Hotel is a usual testing centre, as it wasn't listed in the list of testing centres. This is my 3rd write and it's the first time I'm seeing it offered.
    • Thank you so much! Ah, I hope my professors don't mind reading all of mine. Good thing they can just submit the same letter!  That's a good point! I will give them a heads up a few weeks in advance then. I hope you ended up at your preferred school :).
    • Do you want to work in TO for a few years before going back, or do you want to go back ASAP?
    • Your personal statement is a two-fold test, meant to confirm that you can use the English language in a way that isn't embarrassing, and that you can discuss a relatively straight-forward topic without becoming ridiculous. You don't need to be Oliver Twist, in either style or substance. If you try, you'll almost certainly achieve a negative result. There may be the odd applicant to law school who really did escape war-torn Syria in the trunk of a car, or who has the narrative style to pull off some exceptional piece of writing. Everyone else is just a reasonably accomplished undergrad who wants to study law. And that's all you need to be. Seriously. Stop over-thinking this. Just tell them why you want to go to law school.
    • Exploring your interests In 1L, variety in terms of course offerings doesn't really matter. You'll generally be taking the same foundational course whether you're at Ottawa or Western. However, another thing to maybe consider is that certain schools have better professors in certain areas. In 1L, what would definitely matter in relation to exploring your interests are the extracurriculars being offered (clinics, clubs, etc). Look into what both schools have to offer.  After 1L is when variety in course offerings really matter in terms of exploring your interests. I would say that, on this point, Ottawa is the better choice. Western is a more conservative, pro-business school. There is corporate law and then there is everything else. This isn't just my opinion as Western has made a concerted effort to bill itself as the premier business law school in Canada: Source: https://law.uwo.ca/future_students/business_law/ Social life/environment Western: more tight-knit, conservative, preppy "bro" vibe, less diverse student body (may be conjecture though) Ottawa: less tight-knit, liberal, social justice/progressive vibe, more diverse student body These are just my observations so take it for what you want Employment prospects Broadly speaking, Western will generally be better for job prospects in Toronto, if Toronto means Bay Street. Your grades, resume, personality, connections, etc are ultimately what really matter in terms of your job prospects. However, I would still give Western the edge here. Location Unless you have existing connections to London or like living in a college town, Ottawa is the clear winner here. More things to do, more things going on and, without a doubt, advantages coming from being the seat of the federal government. Ottawa is also close to Montreal so you'll have that avenue open if you want to visit for fun or work.
