Let's keep the thread on its intended track for future applicants. We've had to delete several posts. Thanks.

Hello,

These forums have helped me tremendously during the stressful waiting period, thank you to all of you.

I was accepted today at around noon via email first.

CGPA - I estimate around 3.9 (However, I have had abysmal college grades from many many years ago which also may have been used to determine my CGPA, which in that case would be lower)

LSAT - No LSAT

Good work experience

EC's - Pretty good (It's hard to say how strong these are relative to others from my point of view, but it includes teaching the young for the past few years)

LOR's - I believe them to have been very strong, but I did not see them myself.

PS - I think it must have been good, or at least it didn't hurt my chances ( again, it's hard to say from my p.o.v. , I did my best).

Just got the offer of admission! Honestly quite shocked.

CGPA: 3.62 out of 4 (but with 3.9 in the last two years)

No LSAT

No French interview (although I am fully bilingual and work in french everyday)

Not a ton of ECs but a LOT of work experience (took 3 years off in the middle of my degree to work in the hospitality industry and continued to work part time throughout the rest of my degree once I returned)

LORs: I assume strong, I had excellent relationships with the professors who wrote my letters (multiple classes with them in which I received high As)

PS: this is the clincher - my GPA etc wasn’t that strong but they wrote that my admission was in part due to the fact that they were particular impressed with my PS.

Congrats on your admission! Without going into detail, what was the focus of your PS?

So I have 8 years work experience in the restaurant industry, having worked full-time for 5 years and part-time throughout my degree. In my PS I wrote about labour exploitation (having experienced it first hand) and environmental and food justice. Essentially I capitalized on my strengths that could have been seen as irrelevant to law, but were in fact my reasoning behind applying in the first place.

    • I might come to the welcome day (I am from the GTA).
    • First, I would like to start off my congratulating everyone who has got their call, and wishing good luck to those still waiting.    I got my call on the 7th, and considering this is the only school I applied to for law, it was a blessing that it was right before the LSAT 😂   cGPA: 79% L2: 3.7 LSAT:150 3 LORs from professors who taught various Indigenous courses, all tailored to Lakehead.    Personal statement outlined my passion to work with mining companies and Indigenous communities. I believe this is what helped me stick out as a candidate, and ultimately get the acceptance.    I look forward to meeting you all! Is anyone from the GTA planning on going to the welcome day?
