Congratulations everyone!!

I am wondering if anyone knows if there will be or is an accepted facebook group for mcgill students? It would be really helpful to have a more open and personal space to share and start preparing for next fall with other students. i know I'll probably get scolded for posting this minor side track comment (lol), but it seemed the most relevant on this thread!

Accepted earlier today with condition that I complete my BA. My school doesn't use GPA's but I have an average of 88.3 (out of 100). No LSAT, strong (non-legal) EC's, decent work experience (non-legal), good references and fully bilingual.

Accepted yesterday afternoon, almost a week after my French interview.

3.89/4.00 cGPA, no LSAT, predominantly research-related ECs, LORs written by researchers. French is my second language (high intermediate proficiency so I didn't get the French condition).

Thank you!

I had the interview less than two weeks ago and I was notified of my acceptance by email first.

Did you first have an interview? Only asking because I have the identical LSAT with a higher GPA and I haven't heard anything back yet...Congrats you lucky duck!

McGill still cares about the lsat, and a 153 isn't competitive. IRgeek said they have very strong ECs and given their lsat I'm taking them at their word.

If you really want McGill I recommend rewriting the lsat and reapplying next year, if you don't get in this year.

Accepted May 1st

cGPA: 3.74 from McGill

No LSAT

Strong ECs (I was really active during and after my undergrad with work/volunteer/community involvement, some law-related), solid LORs (1 professional, 1 academic), and (I like to think) compelling PS

French is my second language, but no interview (French immersion, French work experience, uni courses in French).

Still undecided if I will be accepting. Good luck to everyone waiting!

Hi everyone!

I was offered admission to McGill a few months ago, but got the opportunity to do a PhD abroad and after a lot of thought, decided I wanted to go on an international adventure ;) I ended up declining my offer... hoping it makes someone on the wait list really happy!! :)

Good luck to everyone & to all those who got in, have a great time! (I wish I could do everything at once... haha)

    • My original thoughts were that I would be staying at home and doing the online learning instead of moving to Kingston. I tend to err on the side of caution and I'm just not sure if I want to risk in person classes yet. Many of those close to me are higher risk, so that probably played a large part in my initial decision.   This is really interesting and it makes me wonder if my original decision is really the right one to make. If I moved to Kingston, I would theoretically be away from my higher risk family (barring visits, which might not even be a good idea). Me staying at home would carry the benefits of saving a year of rent money (a big plus, imo) and potentially being safer in terms of the virus. I should note that even I'm not yet a member of this Facebook group, so there may be a larger population of students who plan to stay home that aren't reflected in this survey. I do wonder if I would miss out on part of the experience though, but if it's only going to be a "partial" experience to begin with, I'm not sure if I can justify the extra rent costs (on top of tuition) along with the potentially extra virus risk. I just hope I wouldn't be disadvantaged in any way compared to the rest of the class. I really do hope that Queen's will be able to maintain an even footing for those who stay at home and those who can make it in person. I know Queen's intends to offer full online learning, but maybe someone with more experience/ or who is already enrolled at Queen's can weigh in on the potential pros/cons of the in person experience vs. the hypothetical online experience that we're all being faced with right now.
    • Hi all, I was waitlisted this cycle and recently went to check the status of my application. I am unable to log in because the site tries to direct me through an @uwindsor.ca email address made with my name which I don't have the password for and have never seen before. I'm planning on sending an email out on Monday just to see what's going on but figured I'd check to see if anyone else is currently experiencing the same thing. Perhaps it's just an issue stemming from a new site update or something. Thanks in advance!
    • No, marks over 90% require special permission, but marks up to 90% can be awarded without permission.
    • Isn't the max at Allard 90% anyways? And even then, the prof will need special permission or file some kind of paperwork. I know people who got 90s.
    • There was a poll done on the Queen's law class of 2023 Facebook page a little over a month ago. Out of 85 votes, 81 people indicated that they would move to Kingston while 4 indicated that they would remain at home. Assuming nothing has changed it would seem that the majority of students are looking to move to Kingston in the fall, including myself. Also, I need roommates so y'all should slide into my DMs.
