Accepted today! Did not expect a response this early given my stats but hey I'm not complaining.

GPA: 3.66/4.0

LSAT: 158 (Sept 2018)

Good references and STRONG personal statement (in my opinion). Ontario resident, last name W if it means anything.

Waiting on other offers first but I've always loved the Ottawa area and will likely accept. Best of luck to everyone!

Did you get accepted via email, or did your status change on your uOttawa account?

It only showed up on my uOttawa account. Furious checking will probably be necessary (evidence: I've checked every day for the past month).

I hadn’t been checking my account but I did get an email at around 7am this morning telling me a decision had been made on my application and that I should log into my uozone account to see it. When I logged in it said I was actually accepted yesterday! Not sure if this helps!

Had been checking for a while but just popped up now, so relieved to have heard back so fast, really quelled all my anxiety!

LSAT: 164

GPA: 394 OLSAS (apx.)

Decent ECs

Felt like my personal statement wasn't great as I did not use all the 8000 char.

Last name "A"

not an Ontario resident. The only problem is Quebec degrees are 90 credits and it says I have 30 credits to complete when I only have 18 left total in my BA, so I'll be calling tomorrow, I suppose.

Interesting. I didn't get one myself. Oh well, no harm no foul--one way or another everyone will hear back!

Accepted! Got the email this morning.

Really surprised to have gotten it so early, since I submitted pretty close to the deadline.

GPA 3.9

LSAT 164

Relatively weak extracurriculars (mostly just school, work & a recreational sport)

Got the email yesterday! LSAT 157 CGPA: 3.78 L2: 3.81

Strong references, strong personal statement geared to UOttawa, and above average EC’s.

Extremely surprised and excited to have gotten an offer so early in the cycle. I have already accepted the offer as UOttawa was my first choice!

Congrats! Just wondering when you submitted your application on OLSAS and if anyone has any idea if the timing of your application has an impact on when your application would be reviewed.

General. I am a little surprised because my LSAT is mediocre at best, however I have really impressive EC's.

    • Does anyone know what Queen's policy is regarding a future LSAT being indicated on application? Can you be accepted before the January LSAT if they think your stats are good enough already? Or will they wait until that score is received to review the file?
    • I was told that schools can accept you based on your current LSAT¬†if they think it is good enough (even if you have indicated writing a future one). I know Ottawa told me this! However, I'm not sure what Osgoodes, Queens and Westerns policies are. ¬†
    • Huge difference between demands inherent to the job, demands inherent to realistic but difficult (for many) demands of the firm, and demands inherent to unrealistic demands of the firm. Especially¬†when employer demands worsen the service delivered to the client, either or both in terms of quality or fees charged. Let me ask this: if a client is paying for e.g. litigation counsel for a 2-week trial, should they reasonably expect that the lawyer is dealing with that trial solely, getting enough sleep, not distracted by other work matters, for instance, and that the firm should support that? Or should the lawyer be expected to, on evenings and weekends and during lunch, instead of recharging and preparing for the next part of the trial, be working on other matters? A Toronto boutique example albeit from years ago, a senior lawyer at my firm had a weeklong trial adjourned at the last minute (opposing counsel had a sudden health issue or something). He was able to take a sudden weeklong vacation,¬†because the trial had been the sole thing he was preparing for that week. Now, that's litigation, not more solicitor-sided work, and not NYC. But paying large amounts for tired lawyers working more slowly than they would if well-rested may be good for the employer, but it's not good for the lawyers or the client. Everyone has times when they have to work long hours without rest, be it an emergency motion or deal or whatever. But that should be when necessary due to the demands of the situation, not the demands of the employer. Of course, my views on this may relate to why I'm not practising law FT anymore...¬† EDIT: and to try to relate to the topic of this thread, let's say a woman lawyer is being very ethical and is saying, hey, I have a trial going on now, I need to focus on this. Will she be more likely to be considered a less-hard-working prima donna, as compared to a man, who's going to be seen as focusing on the job? Or will they both be seen as slackers?
