Have any Toronto firms been doing recruiting events (such as dinners or receptions) for selected candidates outside the formal interview dates, such as after/ before OCIs?  I know that these type of recruiting events happened a lot in Vancouver.

According to the Law Society, it is not allowed for firms participating in the Toronto OCI Recruit to engage in any recruitment activity before in-firm week begins.

  1. "There shall be no recruitment activities for second year students attending Ontario law schools between 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018 and 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018, except for the conducting of on-campus interviews and the scheduling of interviews and of any other recruitment activities to be conducted during the November 5 Interview Week. • Lol #badlegaltakes But seriously, we do our very best to be fair and even handed when dealing with discipline situations and receive lots of information from posters that we keep in confidence. Certainly doesn’t extend to a fiduciary role, but we do try to nurture this lil corner of the internet.
    • All the school sees is a regular cancellation notification, they will not see that you score previewed and then cancelled That aside, they don't care about cancels because they don't know why it happened. You could have been sick, or maybe there was a technical problem with your test. They don't automatically presume it's because you did poorly! To them it's a void they basically ignore, and instead they focus on what they can see (your score, grades, essays, etc).
    • Mods have a fiduciary duty to us
    • Fair enough, I guess anyone with an identifying email is a better way to describe it. And just to be clear, I never said the no delete rule was hidden. It is made very obvious. Just making a suggestion to possibly boost retention
    • oh god sorry to hear I hope you're doing well. ill call monday and let you guys posted! is anyone going to Sherbrooke in this case?
