Chances? cGPA 3.5 / LAST 3.6/ LSAT 162 Should I even go for it?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm a third year student currently trying to decide whether I should continue aiming for law school

My cGPA is currently a 3.5

My GPA for this academic year is a 3.6, and is likely to be in the same ballpark next year (first year was 3.64, second was 3.2)

I got a 162 on my last practice LSAT (but I guess this could probably improve a few points?)

Is it worth applying to law schools in Canada, or is my GPA too low?

Thanks!

You have a year and a half left on your degree.  Focus on GPA.  You seem to suggest you will not be able to get any higher.  Now is a good time to make GPA a priority.   Regardless of what you decide to do in the future a higher GPA is not going to hurt.

Definitely worth applying if law school is something you really want to do. Your GPA might be a bit low for some schools but definitely high enough for other schools. Plus, there’s still time to improve your GPA; even a small increase could make a big difference. It also appears you haven’t taken the LSAT yet and without a score, it’s hard to predict if your GPA is high enough. The good news is you still have a lot of time to study for the LSAT and get a score that could boost your chances.

Which schools will you be applying?

I'm not entirely sure yet, Queens, Ottawa, and Maybe Osgoode Hall?

You have a higher GPA than me and I'm already in at Western for this cycle.

What are your stats if you don't mind sharing? Thanks!

cGPA: 3.55

L2: 3.53

LSAT: 165

MSc. Candidate, for whatever it's worth. Fairly strong ECs but nothing huge.

Holding out for Ottawa.

Edit: Was referring to L2 when I said OP has higher GPA than me.

I got into Western’s first wave with a 3.62 cGPA and 163. It’s definitely doable if you can keep hitting 85% in your last year and a half.
