File Still Under Review

Recommended Posts

I gather it truly means your application has not been reviewed yet. there seems to be a big swing in stats represented here, for instance, I have a B3: 3.8ish and 157 lsat (a no brainer rejection) others posting here have a solid shot at acceptance. GL

Do you think these files are just files they're pretty confident will all be rejected and they're just getting to it shortly, or do you think they would have actually left a bunch of somewhat strong files partially or fully unreviewed until after there are basically no seats left to offer anyways? Unfortunately the former seems more likely but hopefully it's not the case! Anyone know about previous years? Had a look through the forum and couldn't find much.

Closer to the former, but they could outright reject if they were confident all would be rejected. I looked through the forum and couldn't find something like this before and judging by their yield it doesn't look promising at all. I don't know much about the review process, but this could be due to them re-evaluating softs/PS (I know, naivety). My best guess would be future rejects/low waitlist place.

LSAT 167. Foreign GPA 3.65

I was thinking my file might be under further review because of my foreign credentials. Anyone on the same boat?

File still under review - I did a year abroad and I was told U of T would factor those marks in so maybe in a similar situation? I personally don't think I have a shot at getting in so I wish they would have just sent a rejection already if that's going to be the case.

Waitlisted, so there's a glimmer of hope to those of you who haven't heard yet! So sorry to those of you who were rejected, I hope you have a wonderful law school experience at another school, as I will if I'm not accepted!

I got rejected as well, although I was going to decline even if I got accepted so I can't say I'm too disappointed. Goodluck to everyone else :)

    • "cGPA: 3.29 L2: 3.5 LSAT: 159 (2 writes)" @strugglingSFUgal In your shoes I would accept at UofC now. Based on your profile, even with some improvements admission at UVic is far from guaranteed next year (as you yourself acknowledge).
    • what are your stats?
    • Hi Everyone! I am in my 5th year of uni and I've been accepted to U of C for 2020 and honestly, given my stats, I wasn't expecting any acceptances (especially this early) and had already started studying for my LSAT again to be more competitive for next cycle. I am super excited about this acceptance, but I'm a little stuck on what to doooo. My ultimate goal is UVic, but I didn't apply this cycle as my stats weren't competitive. However, if I was to apply next year, with the increase in credit drops after this semester, my GPA would be competitive and I would just have to work at getting a couple points higher on the LSAT (obviously, working to get a higher LSAT is never a guarantee). As a BC resident, I'd eventually like to make my way back here, although I'm okay living somewhere else for a couple years before that. My question is, do you think I should take the acceptance with U of C and say bye-bye to the LSAT, or should I decline U of C, try for a higher LSAT, and gun for UVic?  Any advice is appreciated
    • I submitted the day of the deadline (Jan 15th) and got accepted today, so just over a month later. So to answer your question, no - it doesn't seem that they go by order submitted. I know some other strong applicants who have not heard back having applied earlier.
    • I got in very quickly with a lower GPA, mine was 3.37. However, I did have a somewhat high LSAT at 170.
