Accepted 2016

Recommended Posts

Hey all - So I randomly just logged in and saw that my message had changed to the following. You have been admitted to the University of Ottawa as a Full-time student, in year 1 of theJuris Doctor (JD) , offered in English, for the Fall 2016 session.

I didn't get an email or anything though! Does Ottawa not reach out personally?

Nevertheless - yay!

Congrats! This thread is for UWO though ;)

Also in as of this afternoon! I'm unlikely to attend but this was the last one I was waiting on, it was stressing me out more than it should have been haha.

cGPA (OLSAS confirmed): 3.87

LSAT: 167

Pretty average ECs (and I mean I would say I'm on par with the average applicant).

Good luck to everyone still waiting (:

Congrats to everyone!!

Accepted today, no email yet.

cGPA: 3.43

L2: 3.71

OLSAS confirmed.

LSAT: 162.

I think fairly strong EC's/LOR'S but I find everyone to be more impressive!

Worked for a law firm for a summer between 3rd and 4th year, and now am hired on until September 2016 in a student-type position. LOR from a name partner. Sporadic volunteering.

    • I'll just say, as a 3L, school by Zoom and/or pre-recordings is pretty sweet. I did the socializing thing in the first two years of law school and I'm fortunate enough to have a core group of friends. The current arrangement means I'm saving a LOT of time not commuting, I get more done, and I can down two part time jobs.
    • Already did. But you do realize that it's important to inquire about future job opportunities before even going down the path of law school, right? I don't want to enter law school and get some useless law degree (for all I know) that won't make me any good money. Which is why I ask important questions about potential future employment before even going down this long path. It's only rational to inquire. Thanks for the clarifications on the job requirements though. I seem to get it now. How so? I understand that there's technically no bar exam, but there is the PTLC barrister and solicitor exams after articling. So you're still not technically a lawyer after passing these exams, which are the final hurdle? What more do you need to do to be a member of the law society?
    • definitely the best part of law school. Or if you're older, 3 years of reliving your youth. I hate covid so so much.
    • Hello everyone I'm a new PR in Canada who finished all undergraduate overseas. Have taken my first LSAT last month and waiting for Oct score. Will definitely rewrite😃 and aim for better LSAT, but just curious about what's the chance with current stats? Other info: work exp - 5 yrs as investment analyst / IELTS 8.5 also applying for Osgoode / Ottawa / Queens / Western UBC allegedly convert a WES-A into 86 and WES-B into 73 instead of recalculating my original score on transcript, 85.89 is the result of this alleged calculation; if I use original transcript it will be 90+
