Honours Standing

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any idea what type of marks are required to get honours standing in up years at U of T law? Does it vary between 2L and 3L much?

Thanks

My understanding is that 4 Hs and 3 HHs was sufficient in 1L last year.

That's my recollection as well.  When I was there if you had half A's and half B+s (HH's, and H's, before UofT engaged is its exercise in grading alchemy) you'd end up with honours standing.

I believe 4 HHs, 3Hs and a P were also enough for 1L. Not sure how it differs for upper years, though.

1L: 3 HHs, 2H, 2 P - not sufficient

2L: 3HH, 4H - sufficient

Not sure how the breakdown looks in 1L/2L/3L. I have a feeling that 3L might be slightly easier, since 3Ls compete in classes against 2Ls (and arguably try less/get lower marks), but the top 10%-ish still get honours. Of course, 3Ls might also just be better at law school and therefore outcompete 2Ls.

But 3 HH, 3H and 1 P was not...

Any thoughts on how the credit weighting of different courses might affect these distributions?
