U of T letter of encouragment.

Recommended Posts

I have a 165 and about a 3.4-3.5 GPA so I hadn't bothered applying to U of T. So today I get a package from U of T saying they are intrested in seeing my app and extending the app deadline for me. Given my stats does anyone have any insight into what my chances would be of being admitted because I am economically disadvantaged latino political refugee. In other words does this letter really mean anything in terms of my acceptance chances?

Was the UofT letter solicited by you in any way? I know LSAC sends out information about students to law schools, so if they've sought you out, good for you.

I would suggest e-mailing UofT to let them know you are interested in finding out about applying there but that, given the costs, you'd like to request a waiver or that they give you some indication as to your admission chances. Email them a copy of your transcripts and LSAT score (save them as HTML or PDF files), for example.

They did inlcude a fee wavier for thier portion of the application costs. It would still cost me the 175$ OLSAS application, plus I would have to write a personal statement. Thanks for the advice, I guess it would be a good idea to call them.

Hmm. I could have sworn I posted in this thread.

Anyways, if U of T wants you, you should definitely look into it. U of T is an excellent school. There's no harm in looking into it (especially if there's a fee waiver).
