  1. does anybody know what a 3.8/4.3 is on a 4.0 scale?
  2. Hey! I was just wondering if being president of a committee looks good for law schools? particularly McGill
  3. wow impressive!! thanks so much!! Congratulations on your acceptance!
  4. thanks so much! I am just overthinking honestly, im done asking about it !!
  5. Sorry for all the questions, I am stressing. I would highly appreciate it if someone can give me any advice on how to increase my chances of acceptance. To put you all into some context: - I estimate my cGPA to be around a 3.8/4.3 by the time I graduate in one year. (major; finance) - EC's: 1) Heavily involved in a non-profit legal clinic: I was a receptionist for a year, and now I am a volunteer advisor (I provide legal information & support in areas of housing, welfare, pensions, family allowances, etc. I have drafted French and English letters for clients, prepared them for rental board hearings in cases of tenant/landlord disputes, determined eligibility for federal+provincial programs, etc.) 2) Involved in a committee as a delegate for international and diplomatic affairs; Participated in a conference and wrote a position paper, debated a position, etc. Planning on becoming VP finance for that same committee 3) A financial mentor at school, I teach students topics of financial literacy 4) Worked in a construction company as an assistant to the owner for three years during my studies in both cegep and university 5) I am a volunteer marketing coordinator at a centre for advocacy 6) I volunteer in fundraising 7) participated in some political campaigns in college 8)) I am enrolled in a program at school where I am being mentored by a tax lawyer and being taught topics of tax law I am planning on doing internships in my field before applying to law. Do I have a chance? Should I do anything else?
  6. okay I get it thanks! but do you know what a 3.8/4.3 would be in percentage? because McGill looks at percentages right?
  7. oh okay thanks! because on the Concordia and McGill websites, they BOTH say that a 3.7 equals 80-84%, so im confused
  8. Is a cGPA of 3.8/4.3 equivalent to a cGPA of 3.8/4 ???? Im confused with the McGill vs. Concordia grading systems and im stressing a little bit
  9. Can anybody who has been accepted into McGill Law give a list of any extracurricular activities or experience they had when applying? also what grade (and what grading scale) they had? No need to go into detail in the experience part I just really want to get a sense of what others did. I really really appreciate anyone who helps!!!!!
  10. Most advisors at the clinic are already law students, so I am very lucky to have this opportunity. Do you have any recommendations for me to further increase my chances? I am planning on applying in about a year or so. I appreciate you responding and helping out! Also, I retook a total of 2 courses (one was because I put a PASS during Covid and wanted to redo it, and the other is because I took it during my first year and did poorly), is this too much? I was thinking of either retaking a 3rd one or just taking a non-credit course to boost up my CGPA
  11. I started off as a secretary, but now i'm an Advisor. I under went 2 months of training and I now give legal information and support to clients in areas of housing, welfare, pensions, family allowances, etc. I explain people their rights and check for eligibility for certain government programs by evaluating their financial situations for instance. I also help with landlord/tenant disputes and prepare people for rental board hearings. For example, I have also drafted letters for clients. I am also involved in a debate committee at school, and multiple other organizations. I also have experience in marketing (volunteered at a centre for advocacy as a marketing coordinator) , finance (taught workshops), and fundraising. Also worked in a construction company. I am planning on doing internships in finance too before applying to law. Sorry this is a lot of information. I just really want to be accepted. I am also being mentored by a tax lawyer.

  13. I was wondering what are the chances of me getting accepted into McGill Law with a CGPA of 3.8/4.3? (Not sure if this helps but i'm majoring in Finance). My volunteer/experience is strong. For example, right now I'm an advisor at a non-profit legal clinic. Also, is it okay if I repeated 2 courses (1 due to Covid, and the other because of a poor grade)
