I am just wondering if the type of program a student is coming from holds any weight in their acceptance? This isn't to say that some programs are easier than others because everyone learns differently. I have heard that for example, receiving an 80 average while completing an English degree is weighted similarly to receiving a 90 average in say a chemistry degree. While both may prove difficult for different types of people, english is generally much more subjective while chemistry is quite objective. Thus, it is hypothetically easier to score a higher mark on a multiple choice chemistry exam than on an essay because essays are at the mercy of a perhaps biased professor. In saying all of this, would an 80 in a more subjective field be weighed similarly to a higher mark in a more objective area of study? I am only asking this because I have heard it from several people.
