  1. For what it's worth, I have seen no evidence that one is favoured over the other and I think the admissions office would tell you the same. That being said, people who have already finished their undergrad may have spent a year or more in a job, involved in some initiative/organization, travelling, volunteering, etc. Those might be aspects of their application that distinguish them and get the interest of admissions officers. But like I said there's a large number of admits who go straight from undergrad to law. Usually they have interesting experiences throughout their undergrad to share though. Hope that helps.
  2. As a current 1L, I would say a plurality of the cohort applied in their final year of undergrad (meaning they would only have 2/3 or 3/4 years completed at the time application). I think the above reply is referring to students who are not in their final year at the time of application.
  3. Nvm we just got a detailed email about it lol.
  4. Incoming 1L and got an email yesterday saying that integration week this year is from Sept 2 - Sept 8. Then our classes start on Sept. 9. I'm a bit confused as to what happens during this week? We have an orientation on August 31 and Sept 1. Our frosh is this upcoming weekend. So what exactly goes on during this week other than the integration workshop that meets on one day? (or is that all?)
  5. Lol good luck. I signed up to use some of their digital practice tests and months later I was still getting phone calls and text messages. I wouldn't give them a penny.
  6. https://www.mcgill.ca/law/bcl-jd/admissions-guide You'd be doing yourself a huge favour by reading through the admissions guide.
  7. I found the "credit limit" and it says $0... guess I will email them to see if everything's ok. Thank you. Yeah it won't even let me use the transfer function because I only have one active account (the chequing account). Thanks for the info.
  8. My scotia adviser told me a week ago that they disbursed the funds for my student LOC. But the balance still shows $0 for the LOC on my account, does this mean it hasn't been released yet? Not sure if its normal for it take this long.
  9. I really hope people don't take this seriously. We are experiencing a temporary shock to the economy due to the novel coronavirus. There is no structural problem with the real economy (aside from high corporate debt in some industries). Stimulus packages are already being announced in Canada, the Eurozone, and soon the US. OP, what we are experiencing is transitory. If you are entering law school in Fall 2020, perhaps you have a more difficult time finding a law 1L summer internship (which is hard even in good times). By the time the 2L recruitment rolls around, we will be in good shape. Edited to add: Most of us here are 20-something year olds and can only remember the Great Recession of 08-09. There is a reason it is called the Great Recession. It was an atypically devastating economic period, that lasted far longer than previous recessions. I don't recommend moving forward in life assuming that all economic downturns will be as bad as the last one.
  10. Not available for Fall 2020 term yet but thank you. Will probably have to wait a few months or call the admissions office if there's an alternative.
  11. Hello, I want to go sign for a professional student line of credit but I need a proof of enrolment. I have paid the deposit for McGill, does anyone know how to go about getting the proof of enrolment? Thank you!
  12. So they didn't tell us the number of acceptances sent out unfortunately, but my impression is that there was about 50 admits present today. Keep in mind that some admits may have been unable to attend. Among those present, not everyone had decided yet. I definitely wouldn't worry if you haven't heard yet, it seemed to me like they have a ways to go to fill the class.* *please take this with a grain of salt, I'm making a lot of assumptions and this is only based on my observations today.
  13. There is a Welcome Day for students admitted (so far) tomorrow actually. Based on tmr's attendance I assume we will get a rough estimate of the number of offers already sent out.
  14. Thank you for the insight! I definitely can see how that gap can be beneficial coming right out of law school.
  15. Hello! I'm wondering when articling typically starts after graduation, specifically for Toronto? If I wanted to do the 3.5 year degree at McGill, would I need to wait until the summer to start articling if I got an articling position in Toronto? Given that Ontario grads would typically graduate in the spring, I'm not sure if there would be a gap. Thank you!
  16. Admitted yesterday! CGPA 3.85/4.00 LSAT 164. Now to decide between here and UofT....
  17. Hi! I assume you are looking to apply next cycle? Although you might have a chance at some schools (I'll let others speak to that), I think you should consider writing the LSAT again. You would have a lot of time to bring up your score and would open more options.
  18. Good points. I'll for sure look out for potential roommates as more acceptances role out. Worst case I'll do rez in first year, and once I meet more people in 1L it will be easier to find a place off campus. Thanks for the advice!
  19. Hi! I was wondering if the UofT residences (like woodsworth, Morrison Hall) are open to law students as well? I just got admitted today and I am from Montreal, so housing is a bit of a concern for me.
  20. Can't believe i am making this but just got the call! CGPA: 3.86, from CEGEP in QC so no B3. LSAT: 164 Good luck to everyone!
  21. If I remember correctly you need to follow the instructions in the email to create your user ID (if you are not already a western student). They don't send it to you.
  22. I have similar stats, hope it all goes well.
  23. Hopefully you're right about Oz! Yeah I agree, U of T is a bit of a coin toss. You're more confident than I am about UT lol. thanks for the predictions!
  24. Hey all. I applied to UofT, Western, Osgoode with stats in the title. What would you say are my odds? ECs: Director for a Non-Profit, President of a uni association, etc. (not necessarily v unique, but competitive) LORs: Strong
