    JD vs McGill LLB

When you get into practice most lawyers pre 2010 have LL.B.'s. I know for a fact when highering lawyers are not going to care what the title is, they will care more about what you as lawyer have to offer.

OBA? CBA? Trial Lawyers Association? Recommendations

Can confirm the Advocates' Society is great for litigators or finding "specialty" programs to refresh you each year. I have found that the OBA/CBA is more "academic" if that makes sense. They push for legal changes and comprise members of the profession who are academics and prominent practitioners. OTLA is intended for those in the civil litigation area of law and acts as a strong lobby / keep you up to date on relevant injury law. (They have a great weekly newsletter if you practice in this area!). You should always join your local law associations as well as they act as an excellent source for networking with local lawyers in your region! Hope that helps OP!
  3. I am writing the Solicitor and Barrister exams for the first time in March and am (1) looking for the best tips or advice you have, and (2) where would I find the best practice questions that resemble the real exams? I have done the practice questions on the LSO website, but there are unfortunately not many of them. Thank you!

    Average Starting Salary

I started articling at a personal injury firm in Ontario (outside of Toronto) in September. I was looking to collaborate a list of average starting salaries per area of practice for boutique firms because I could not find any online... My starting salary in PI is $ 95,000.00 (with bonuses during Christmas and end of accounting year). My friend is working at a criminal defence boutique, and his starting salary was $65,000.00 (Plus performance bonus). My other friend isworking at an Intellectual property boutique and is making $85,000.00 (Christmas and end of accounting year bonus). I wanted to compare articling salaries per these boutiques and was wonder what was common in other areas of practice? Maybe we can put together a guide for future articling students (indexed to inflation of course).
