  1. I have done research on this, quite recently, as I am pondering the same thoughts as you. As far as I can tell, if you're staying in western Canada, then Calgary is still the best place to be for a legal market, even more so than Vancouver right now. Someone else please correct me if you know otherwise.
  2. Oh, it was. I'm still not really over it. After so many OCIs, I'm really getting the impression that honesty is a bad thing for your selection chances. Interviewers seem to be only interested in people that tell them exactly what they want to hear, and there is no room for honesty if it slightly deviates. They prefer liars. Well for at least one of the interviews, the feedback I received after was overall extremely positive, so you're probably right. Don't get me wrong, I don't fault the interviewers for that. They can and should decide what is best for their business.
  3. I evidently put too many criminal-related courses in my anticipated course list (4 courses total in all 3 years). Two BigLaw firms explicitly rejected me because of that after the interview.
  4. Significantly less than undergrad. I would study for around 3 weeks for finals in undergrad, and now it is around 1 week.
  5. No idea. My CSO director specifically said to avoid "first-choice" language in these emails, but didn't say why.
  6. Was also really hoping for Gowling, but no call. Oh well, good on us for trying I guess.
  7. Would you mind telling me which Calgary firms called you for a second interview?
  8. Thanks for the info! And congrats on all the interviews!
  9. Has anyone received a call in the last 2 or 3 days?
  10. Ah. Well this makes me sad. Congrats to those who were called.

  12. Give us any updates you can on second interviews, offers, whatever.
  13. uAlberta JD/MBA program waives the professional experience requirement for law students I'm pretty sure FYI.
  14. What are your opinions on the two schools and cities? I'm wondering about articling, career, school, night life, and just atmosphere in general.
