  1. It is professor preference. Some profs will provide the cases to students and others require you to get a casebook.
  2. The confirmation/congratulations email just went out this morning saying an official letter will be sent at a later date.
  3. Looking at the list of textbooks posted on the College's website, it appears that all of the required textbooks are the same edition as the 1L textbooks last year. As long as you confirm the editions (there may be some 3L's that will be selling their 1L texts that are older editions), then you will be fine. I would suggest selecting textbooks that have minimal highlighting as some law students are heavy-handed when it comes to highlighting. Excessive highlighting by others can make it challenging to determine what elements of the cases are essential to you. New texts will cost you about $1000-$1500 depending on if you get all the supplementary or not, so used is a great option IF you match the editions. I would highly recommend against getting older editions as students in my year did that, and they often were missing cases or had to spend additional time figuring out the right pages. Edit: You will want to buy the 2020 Criminal Code as the 1L's from last year would have used the 2019.
  4. No, you're correct. You will receive an email with your section/professors before the first day of orientation. You may also want to check your confirmation of enrollment on the Registration page of PAWS because it should show you as a first year already even though you haven't "formally registered" for classes. That's what happened for me when I was in 1L, and I was able to get my loan before classes started.
  5. Yep. It's titled 'Usask Law - Class of 2022" or you can follow this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/374958633149328/. If you haven't already, you should also join "The Official U of S LSA Social Group".
  6. The 2019-2020 1L Schedule was just released this week. Fall/Term 1: https://law.usask.ca/documents/students/jd/2019-20-First-Year_T1.pdf Winter/Term 2: https://law.usask.ca/documents/students/jd/2019-20-First-Year_T2.pdf
  7. Just received my acceptance today! B2: 3.7 (waiting on marks from this year, but in last year of my degree) on 4.3 scale LSAT: 159 Non-Indigenous, strong Sask connection (lived here all my life and one parent went to U of S). I also think I had a pretty strong letter with lots of volunteer experience, but not sure if that matters. Will be accepting.
