  1. Ask about Crown salaries and walk away with new cooking tips and tricks. Love this site.
  2. I just had another small heart attack trying to calculate the next ten years of my life and pay off this 130k loan. Hopefully I’ll end up working as a Crown in Ontario, which begets the question: what’s a typical starting salary? I’ve tried to get an idea online but there’s nothing recent. I’m also not sure how this works given Crowns are put on three-month contracts (or so I’ve heard). Any anonymous new Crowns out here willing to share?
  3. but thankfully our clients' liberty doesn't depend on us writing a substantive 7-hour exam covering topics we aren't familiar with
  4. Probably me, as a rewrite.
  5. I felt like garbage. Went into it cautiously optimistic, and then couldn’t believe how much “educated” guessing I had to do. There were so many repetitive themes (expert evidence, transcripts) that I did not get right. And then public law was a total crapshoot. I agree with an earlier comment about the PR being gut feeling. The more I learn and study the more I realize I got so many wrong.
  6. I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed and not sure I'm even "studying" per se - more like skimming pages and barely taking anything in. I bought (and am waiting on) the OLE indices. Highlighted some stuff but not sure how this is going to help me. Standardized testing fills me with dread. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tutor to help get students on track and study meaningfully? Ideally in the Toronto/GTA area. I've seen some courses but would like to hear personal recommendations. Thank you.

  8. I've taken trial ad! it was amazing. this is a different course https://ozdomapp1.osgoode.yorku.ca/myosgoode.nsf/syldescription.xsp?documentId=C972E2028C37CDE4852582FE0066442A&action=openDocument
  9. I take into consideration Rate My Prof and Os course evaluations when I pick courses. I was trying to find insight into a couple upper year courses that have no information. Anybody have anything to say about the following? - Copyright (Bandopadhyay): terrifies me to see there's a take-home AND formal exam. - Contract Remedies (ffrench, Dougan, Richards) - Advocacy + Criminal Trial (Greene, Trehearne)
  10. Thank you for all the responses. Yes, I posted hoping for a positive but realistic response which has been delivered for the most part. I'll likely try to get into admin law, maybe torts, maybe family or business associations, as suggested, for the winter semester. Thanks fam.
  11. I should clarify I have a semester left as in I still need to choose courses for the winter semester :)
  12. Seeking guidance as I have avoided all business courses like the plague and have one semester left. Should I be taking some Bar-y courses to help prep? I've been taking all crim as this is where I'll be articling/hopefully working for the rest of my lawyerly life.
  13. Thank you ShortShrift- if you have time could you elaborate a little more on wishy washy?
  14. Hi there, I'm looking for feedback re: the following courses if anyone has taken them and might recommend them (or not!). - Health Law - Law and Psychiatry - Lawyer as Negotiator - Trial Advocacy - Insurance Law - Advanced Torts Thanks! Hopefully this doesn't get lost amid the "CHANCES 162 4.8" posts
