  1. Obviously it depends on the year. Generally slightly above an A average is necessary.
  2. A lot of things need to go right for you to end up at a Magic Circle firm. Perhaps you are truly exceptional, but moving abroad with the hopes of getting into a top school, being at the top of a law class, and then being hired by a firm you covet is a helluva gamble. I don't care enough to dive into this. But I think its important to be realistic when making important life decisions. Don't let me dissuade you, but take a hard look at whether or not the odds of success are worth relocating.
  3. Tuition for this year is around 11K. Scotia Bank is great. Definitely the place to go for a line of credit.
  4. What? Just do the research. Not a great sign if you are not prepared to research potential employers yourself.
  5. If you are planning on practicing in Alberta you should go to law school in Alberta. You will get a perfectly fine criminal law education at U of C or U of A.

  7. Classic Morgan's misdirection. You're not going to dissuade me from seeking a career with the greatest firm on Earth.
  8. I'm in the take evidence camp. My school has it as a mandatory course, but even if it wasn't I view it as a fundamental class.
  9. Interesting you recommend Mighty Judgment*. I didn't much care for it to be honest. The author writes with a strong political perspective which I found at times distorted the cases. *Good catch, thanks Jaggers. Long weekends...
  10. I'm pretty bad at reading subtext, but sounds like Diplock is endorsing the site.
  11. This is a great post. Not in the sense that any of it is remotely accurate, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
