  1. For what it's worth, I know someone in my year (3L) that got in with a 2.7-2.9 GPA.
  2. I hear it's good actually. Looks alright. It's right across from the law school. I'm actually thinking about getting a place there next year as well, convenient for sure. Good neighbourhood, all campus is though.
  3. No matter what you do. Do NOT. I repeat, do NOT live in residence. No. I know what you're thinking, "he's exaggerating". No. It's expensive as fuck, especially when you consider you can have an apartment even closer to the law building for $800/month right at askin towers. The meal plan is so shitty, it's ridiculous. Crazy expensive, shitty food, small portions, dirty people working behind the counters - most at least. Seriously, just don't fucking live on residence. I'm in alumni hall and it is SHIT. I don't hear anything good from electa either. Just don't gamble on it. You're definitely better off. Please. Don't stay in rez.
  4. I need a place to stay this month. Need to move out of residence, because my roommate stinks. Yes, so bad that I have to move out! If anyone knows of a place, let me know. Thanks!
  5. Pretty sure it says no family members or friends can write your letter, but since your aunt owned it, that's a descent question. I imagine they won't disregard the reference completely, rather may not give it as much weight as so if it werent your family. If you dont have the same name, you should be good.
  6. When I checked out the school, the gym was like a 5/10 minute walk from the law building. I only seen the one, it looks small for working out. The gym for basketball/volleyball etc. isn't too shabby. And, I'm pretty sure we don't have to pay anything extra it's in our fees.
  7. Like the title says. I'm thinking about going up to Windsor in a couple days and if I can get a room to stay up there until September 1st, it'd be nice. If anyone knows of anything, pm me please!
  8. JD2016, you can download the form here, not sure if facebook is necessary or not though: http://www1.uwindsor.ca/law/peermentorshipprogram/2013-07-31/mentee-mentor-applications-2013-2014 I was wondering how we pay our fees online. What do we put in the 'payee section' and that? Has anyone already paid? I also have to pay for residence fees, to I pay it all at the same time? Thanks.
  9. Wouldn't mind meeting someone from the area that will be in law. Maybe we can work something out for the ride up or that.
  10. Just wondering if anyone knows their account balance? Mine just shows the amount I paid for residence and the deposit, not what is owing. Heading up there Tuesday to check out the campus and pay it up, figure I should have a general idea of what I need to pay. Thanks.
  11. I'm just living on res so I can give first year my full attention. I don't want to think about little things like grocery shopping, bussing/walking to class, paying bills, etc. That was my logic atleast, maybe yours is different. And... Alumni because I don't want to share a bathroom - that's just nasty.
  12. Just got the email from residence that I will be in Alumni Hall, with my room number and all that. I'm happy about it. Anyone else?
  13. I know it's pretty expensive. I'm just going to spend a little extra cash. The way I see it, I'm renting right now (in Oshawa given), and I pay $750 in rent/month, then I gotta pay hydro, cable, internet, food, take a 20 minute bus ride to class, etc. So for me, I want to splurge a little just for the convenience of location, and no worries of cooking or bills for one year. I know living is cheap just from random searches on "viewit.ca", but I'm saving the apartment living for second year. I don't want any excuses to not do well in first year. I figure I'll be on campus most of the time anyway.
  14. I'm definitely staying in residence first year as well. Already paid my deposit, and put down Alumni Hall as my first choice, Electa Main second, and Electa Annex third (if I remember correctly, Annex is the one where it's open concept). I definitely don't want to share a bathroom with a bunch of people. I looked at the map on the site, and Alumni looks close to the gym and everything, pretty much right in the middle of campus, so a ten minute walk to class is still pretty convenient. I definitely hope I get a fellow law student as a roomie, just because it'd ease some of the stress, and whatnot.
