  1. I'll recently be called to the bar in Ontario this September. Looking for advice on the best way to gain employment with a law firm and the best ways to search for the position? Should I try for online postings with the firm? Or should I simply go to the firm with my resume? Are there any websites or postings anyone can recommend? I would appreciate your advice since I'm new to the legal world!
  2. I passed the Barristers exam but failed my Solicitors exam in November. Real Estate was my best section but I was under the provincial average for Business and Estates. I was planning on writing in March but I don't feel fully ready in Business or Estates. I feel that I need time to clarify concepts in Business and Estates. My mom also passed away in December so I have had a rough period in grieving her loss.
  3. Hi, I'm struggling with the Solicitors exam and will have to write it a 4th attempt. Did this person pass on their 6th attempt?
  4. Hi Raven, don't feel bad I found out that I failed the solicitors exam for the third time! I don't feel great since I thought that I would have a chance at finally passing this exam but I was wrong. I passed Barristers in June but I can't seem to clear this exam. Do u fail both exams?
  5. Does anyone know that has written the ontario bar exams on whether a failure report has been mailed? Has anyone received their reports?
  6. Has anyone had experience with attending the Emond bar prep classes? Has anyone been successful after attending these classes? I've only attended the U of T Bar prep classes but been unsuccessful.
  7. How did everyone find the PR questions on Barrister and Solicitor? Did u find more PR questions on Barrister's compared with Solicitor's? Or vice versa. I would like to hear people's feedback on their exam experience this past March session.
  8. Yes, I had a similar experience as well! I found Civil and the PR questions to be alright. Family was OK but Criminal I found to be the hardest ! I remember making educated guesses for half of the section of Criminal Law. Public also I found hit and miss! I also found a lot of odd questions that didn't seem to be in the materials! It's a mystery whether these types of questions were in the materials or not.
  9. Hi everyone. I just wanted to get People's feedback on writing this recent Barrister's and Solicitor's bar exams this past March. Here's my feedback. Also did u find more PR on Barrister's compared with Solicitor's? 1) on Barristers, I did the best in Civil. However, Criminal was my worst section. I found myself making educated guesses for half that portion. In Family, I felt OK in answering the questions. Public seemed generally OK too. I was able to answer the PR questions. I answered all the questions but I'm unsure though overall if I passed or not. 2) on Solicitor's, Business seemed to be my best section. I was able to answer most questions. Estates also was OK too. But in Real estate I started out well with answering the first section of the questions but was making educated guesses for the second portion of the exam. I was able to answer the PR questions. I answered all questions and am unsure again if I passed.
  10. They had to re-write both exams and did not retain credit for either exam.
  11. You will have to talk with the Law Society with regards to getting a 5th attempt. It can be granted but you have to give valuable reasons upon why you were unsuccessful during your 4th attempt. I know some friends that failed their 4th attempt were forced to wait out a year before being granted back into the licensing process. I know a friend in a similar situation.

  13. Hi Bartogo, How did you find the real estate section of the Solicitor's exam? I found it quite challenging overall and couldn't locate many of the answers in the materials. Jas
  14. Hello everyone, I just recently wrote the Solicitors exam. I found the exam overall to be a "mixed bag". I formally looked up possibly 60 out of 240 questions in total. I was able to finish the exam on time. In Business Law, I could answer some questions but felt lost on the tax law questions. In Estates, I mainly found myself making educated guesses. Real estate was the worst! I mainly found myself answering questions without looking up material. Most of the questions on the real estate section seemed to be only answerable without looking up material. I found myself mainly answering questions based on pure logic and my legal knowledge rather than looking for things from the materials. Did anyone else find themselves in a similar situation? How did everyone one else feel about the Solicitors exam?
