Is Getting In Ls Really That Competative?
03 March 2012 - 10:25 PM
I've been wondering- is it really as competitive/prestigious as we might think?
I know this could be criticized as largely unreliable, but I think it's enough to get my question across:
http://www.oxfordsem...at_profiles.php
Assume that the same group of people who apply to UWO, are the ones who apply to Oz/Toronto/Queens, etc. (i.e. the
2,700 at UWO are more or less the same
2,745 applying to UofO). Obviously Oz and Toronto have ~500 more applicants.
Is it really that hard to get into LS?
You have 1,348 students admitted per year in all Ontario schools, and more or less 3000 people applying (+/- 400). That means you have a 1 in 3 shot at getting into law?(and the class sizes are increasing each year- especially at UofO).
Many naive people will say , "omg, 3000 applicants apply for 175 spots- thats like 9% admission rate"
I don't know, 1 in 3 doesn't seem to be as catchy as 9%. Or am I missing something lol?
...just posting out of curiosity (dont beat me up)

Im guessing you can just throw out your section #s for MTWThF, and I can try to cross check them with those tables... (that's how it works, right?)
**Alternatively: If your scared it will give out your identity- can you PM me?
Also- can you tell me the best/worst thing about your experience thus far. Is it all they said it would be?

I know this question has been asked before- if you can refer to me to the appropriate thread, that would also help!
Thanks!
