Kingston Penitentiary Close Down

19 April 2012 - 11:39 AM

lol any thoughts? I guess no max security prisoners next door (althought I don't think they were really an issue to begin with). But how about the crim. law at queens- or it doesn't really matter?

Personalities in various Legal Areas

05 April 2012 - 10:44 PM

Out of curiosity-do general 'personalities' vary across the area of legal practice? For instance, do general corporate lawyer personalities & criminal lawyers differ from say, IP/intellectual property lawyers? Maybe from international lawyers (the few and from in between)?

If this is already covered in another thread, I would appreciate the link to

Is Getting In Ls Really That Competative?

03 March 2012 - 10:25 PM

I've been wondering- is it really as competitive/prestigious as we might think?

I know this could be criticized as largely unreliable, but I think it's enough to get my question across:
http://www.oxfordsem...at_profiles.php

Assume that the same group of people who apply to UWO, are the ones who apply to Oz/Toronto/Queens, etc. (i.e. the

2,700 at UWO are more or less the same

2,745 applying to UofO). Obviously Oz and Toronto have ~500 more applicants.

Is it really that hard to get into LS?

You have 1,348 students admitted per year in all Ontario schools, and more or less 3000 people applying (+/- 400). That means you have a 1 in 3 shot at getting into law?(and the class sizes are increasing each year- especially at UofO).

Many naive people will say , "omg, 3000 applicants apply for 175 spots- thats like 9% admission rate"

I don't know, 1 in 3 doesn't seem to be as catchy as 9%. Or am I missing something lol?

...just posting out of curiosity (dont beat me up)

1L Queen's Time Table

22 February 2012 - 10:21 PM

Just curious, anybody currently in 1L want to share their time table for fall/winter? Just want to get idea of what it might look.

Im guessing you can just throw out your section #s for MTWThF, and I can try to cross check them with those tables... (that's how it works, right?)

**Alternatively: If your scared it will give out your identity- can you PM me?

Also- can you tell me the best/worst thing about your experience thus far. Is it all they said it would be?

Law School Admission Seats

27 January 2012 - 11:14 AM

Question: You get an offer from a law school- not sure to accept or decline yet. Is their a disadvantage to waiting it out? As in- can all the available seats be filled up before you accept your admission (i.e. you accepted too late, but before the deadline)

I know this question has been asked before- if you can refer to me to the appropriate thread, that would also help!

Thanks!
