Agreed with GoatDuck here. People who have uncompetitive stats like to hype themselves up by telling themselves (and others) that softs are much more important than they are. It's magical thinking, especially in situations where the softs are clearly last-minute resume padding, which they often are. Softs are evaluated by humans, who see so many applications that they become very good at picking up on "okay, this person suddenly joined five clubs on the same day three months before they applied". That said, there's no need to worry about this if you've got the stats, which it sounds like you will, if the LSAT goes well for you. Best of luck.

      Thank you for responding.

If I understand you correctly, then yes, you're fine. You are still eligible for both schools until the deadline.

Again, we gotta be clear with our terms here. When you say midsize firms, I don't know exactly what you mean. Are we just talking about amount of lawyers? Because that's a bad approach.  Be more granular and be aware of the differences between firms. Are you looking for full service firms that are smaller and off bay street? Or are we talking about firms that are sizeable but only do certian areas of law? And if so which?  I think you need to be much more cognizant of firms practice areas and focus less on size. Similar sized firms with different practice areas shouldn't be treated as interchangable. You'll need to approach them differently or you will fall short. Torkin isn't Brauti, which in turn is not Stieber.  You can and should apply broadly, but change your approach and tailor things accordingly.

Thank you everyone for your insights, I truly appreciate it! If I have somewhat of a “better” chance at getting a job at a midsize firm, do you guys recommend that I prioritize connecting with lawyers from midsize firms that are partaking in the recruit more than the bigger firms? Is that a good strategy? I know these things are still very abstract and can’t necessarily be dealt with strategically but I was wondering if anyone had anything to say about focusing on midsize firms over bigger firms in terms of making connections this summer.

Just to add a more concrete point: you’ll get more utility spending the summer improving your lsat score than getting whatever soft you can get at this point.
