GPA Calculation for last 20 courses - % to 4.0

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone.

For those students who graduated from universities that provide percentage averages, how are the 4.0 calculations exactly done?

Do you take the score from every course and change it from % to 4.0 depending on the table then sum and average, or is the final % average taken and that's what is your 4.0, or is there another method?

Thanks a lot.

Pretty sure every course's % is converted to Calgary's GPA scale and then it is averaged.

Yes, the grade for each course is converted to our 4.0 scale.

Grades from graduate coursework are not used in the GPA; however, we will still view the grades on the transcript and take them into consideration when assessing the application.

Cheers!

Hi there!

For those with A/A+ as my school uses a 4.5 scale, how are these calculated?

Is this the right scale (ie A/A+ both count as 4.0)?

This may be a silly question, but since I overloaded in 3rd and 4th year (I took 1 additional course each semester), would Calgary take exactly my last 20 courses on my transcript or take over 20 credits (my L2)?

From what I know, when calculating the last 20 courses, if the 20 courses are accumulated in the middle of a semester, so lets say from September 2016 you only need 2/5 classes to fulfill the 20 last courses, they will go over the 20 courses and include all classes from that semester when calculating L2 and not solely just those 2 classes. Hope that helps and makes sense.

Sorry for the slow reply; just saw this!

That's the MD admissions info. You'll want to check the JD admissions info for our GPA conversion table: http://law.ucalgary.ca/jdadmissions.

Cheers!
