Does anyone know if the offers that were sent out a couple days ago were based on the personal statement too?

It's under Accepting the Offer on your hard copy offer letter.

cGPA has no bearing on admissions at UofA. Just L2.

Was accepted back in April but forgot to post about it in here!

CGPA: 3.0
L2: 3.7
LSAT: 155

Accepted the offer but have since been put on the waitlist for both Western and Ottawa, and am still waiting to hear back from Queen's and Osgoode.

I realized the GPA was actually just over 3.7 (3.72). I am sure i was admitted during the holistic review and that it was my personal/family situation that made the difference.

Not sure if everyone knows or not, but there's a Facebook group set up for members of this class - University of Alberta Law Class 2020. If you don't have a Facebook account, I'd strongly recommending getting one. There are a lot of notices you miss out on otherwise!

Yep, I am on JET. I'm in a small mountain city of about 30,000 in the chugoku region. Completely different from my hometown, but I genuinely love it here. Can't recommend rural Japanese life enough.

Whoops! Missed the reply. Very cool. There are 2 former JETs, including myself, that I know of. I was in Sendai for 4 years. I can't remember if the other guy was on Honshu or Kyushuu, though - somewhere a lot further south than I was, in any case.

'Recommend' - didn't catch the autocorrect in time, sorry.

I declined my offer, so one of you on the waitlist will get my spot. Decided not to attend law school.

I have been hearing a few people declining their offers, but still no movement on the waitlist. I am wondering if they offered more seats than they had in anticipation that some would decline :S

FYI, my status has not changed on BearTracks, despite declining a few weeks ago. I suspect it will take awhile for the decline/re-offer process to happen. Best of luck
