Entrance Scholarships

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Just wondering what kind of entrance scholarships UNB has been offering this year. I was offered full tuition for first year :)

I'm aware of that, but I had  seen that on other school threads people had been sharing if they'd been offered any scholarships/ money with their acceptances and I was curious to see how UNB compared.

Wow, that is amazing, congrats!

I didn't receive any entrance scholarship offer. I did apply to the "special scholarships", so fingers crossed!

Did they mail you about the entrance scholarship with your acceptance letter, or was that separate? And do you mind sharing what your stats are - just curious about scholarship/stats comparison.

The scholarship offer came in the mail 1-2 weeks after the acceptance letter for me.

Thanks! I got an email saying I'd been accepted into the program and then later that day an email with the scholarship information in it, followed by both letters arriving in the mail on the same day about a week later.  I have a fairly high LSAT for UNB so I think that is why I got the scholarship offer.

Hope everyone gets good news about scholarships once they've sent more out and determined the special scholarships!

I received an email from Wanda yesterday saying that I have been selected for a $7 000 scholarship! Makes it much harder to say no, and definitely gives me something to think about!

    • I felt the same alienation when people talked about their (or really, their parents’) cottages, time shares, vacations, hockey season tickets etc. Seemed like everyone had been to Europe (I know not everyone had but so many people talked about it.) Some people even had boats and horses etc. A few had condos bought for them by their parents and people talked about how their parents were paying their tuition. That was also hard to hear.

    • The two aren't mutually exclusive. I've enjoyed all the activities that I planned to do before applying and have met some great people along the way.
    • I never understood worrying about what's on my fellow classmate's plate. I take my exam. I do the best that I can. If I get a B, I get a B. If i get an A, then yay. I know I didn't lose a shade of a grade because a few people got extra time through accommodation. I lost a shade of a grade because I screwed up. There's no guarantee I don't screw up even if the prof gave me time immemorial.  Legit or illegitimate accommodation doesn't bother me. I'd rather the person who actually needs accommodation get it even if five others are "cheating" the system. It doesn't and shouldn't affect me. Just focus on yourself.
