On my personal statement I wrote "Ottawa University" instead of "University of Ottawa." I'm so used to calling it OttawaU that i just naturally made that mistake. How badly do you think that will be weighed against me?
How Bad Is This?

My first thought was to suggest not worrying but they know where you live! run!

Definitely not a great mistake to make, but I wouldn't go and point it out to them. They read so many personal statements that they might not even notice.

Probably, in all honesty, the least serious application mistake that I've ever heard anyone worry about.

No worries dude.
How many do you think they get that has another school's name? Probably a couple hundred.

In lecture I saw by a US admissions officer (it was years ago, I think maybe Duke or Cornell or one of those) he said this happens on close to 5% of all applications! This number may be even worse in Ontario where most schools ask identical questions.

Shouldn't ruin an otherwise solid app.

Just as an update to the PS screw-up situation, it didn't end up hurting me and I received an offer of admission!
