I'm sort of glad to be able to start off this thread as I've done my undergrad here and have loved UO
In as of Nov 22nd, probably going to accept, though I have to weigh the possibility of McGill, but I do love Ottawa (don't let anyone tell you this is a boring city!).

LSAT: 162
GPA: 3.8
ECs: to list them would be douchey

now, I weigh the possibility of just barely passing my final exams come december seeing as I got this locked up.

Congratulations! That's awesome!
Do you mind if I ask when you applied?

Applied like mid-october, but my last reference letter wasn't in till about Nov 10 if I remeber correctly.

As for the notification, because Im a UO student already I already have an infoweb account so I just checked it to see if I was admitted. To be truthful I haven't even received an email saying that they received my application yet, just been checking my infoweb obsessively which showed that they received my application on the 21st and accepted me on the 22nd.

best of luck to all others, and hopefully a booze-filled september!

Congrats! Look forward to starting 1L with you next year. I'm also in, but am a deferral from (late) last cycle, so don't give my stats too much weight.

LSAT: 161
CGPA: 3.45

I think you were on waitlist and was allowed to defer

How many admission offers Ottawa gave out last year? 800 or more?

I know someone who got in (never waitlisted) mid - April I believe, with a 3.3 cGPA and a 160. Deferred for one year and will be attending for Fall 2012.

How the hell did they get in with a 3.3 at Ottawa?

Like I said above, 3.3 can SOMETIMES be above an 80% or close to. Obviously, with their holistic stance on everything, the ECs and PS played a large role in evaluation. Also worth noting, this person's last two was around 3.5 (which I mention because it isn't as high as other peoples).

Looking at the acceptance thread for the past cycle, you would see that this person is not the only one to have gotten admission with those stats. One other poster had the exact same and also got accepted.

Ottawa is a VERY hard school to predict for. The rejections thread has people with incredible stats being cut for reasons we will most likely never understand or know.

Actually, I have another friend who got in for 2011, but decided to defer for 1 year so she could be a guide at the Vimy Ridge memorial (ie drinking, travel, and history for 4 months straight), will be at UO for sure come 2012. I was also thinking of deferral because at UO you can get an Ma for free (plus TA-ship guaranteed, not even to mention SSHRC funding) with an 8.0 or above but they have no 1 year programs sadly.

Quick question: how do you know if they have your application? Does it list all the documentations or explicitly say that they have received your application?

Today I got the official letter of "we received your application" along with student number and log in.

If you're already a UO student, just go to infoweb, and there's a "check status of application for admission" to various programs on the left side of the main screen. It'll say if they received your application or not.

Yeah the traditional perception that you shouldn't bother with Ottawa unless you have an outstanding GPA is contradicted by a fair amount of acceptances from last year's thread, which is why I applied there this year.

Yes I got the same letter in the mail acknowledging the application. They did not do this last cycle.

I did not get any letter on Infoweb last cycle.

I got a letter after I returned from vacation last
July that was dated Jun 8 and I have to reply on Infoweb
By Jun 22

Of course I missed the deadline and didn't know my Infoweb

A call to the office put me back on the list and received
The Infoweb info.

I didn't go for vacation until Jun 20 and I think the postal
Strike has something to do with the delay.

Wonder why they didn't email me instead.

Make sure you have youe Infoweb info

No one received an offer yet?
