Thanks!

Okay, since my name hasn't changed, is there any way I can go about doing this myself? How do I delete my account in order to remake if that is what is necessary?

The mods and admins are currently having discussions about the ability to change usernames. At the moment, there will be no name changes allowed.

Click "register now" in the top right hand corner and make a new account.

Did you not see my comment which was just before yours? Please don't be giving this advice. More than one account is not allowed.

tjtreiber, you cannot delete an account and you shouldn't have made a new one after reading my comment.

I'm sorry erinl2 but you didn't specify that I wasn't allowed to delete and remake a new account or have two at once. I didn't make a new account even though I would like to if name changes are not permitted. My username could identify me and I don't want it to.

Just updating policy on this and should have a solution soon since this problem is creeping up a lot. Hold tight and we will let you know!

I registered awhile ago and I can't remember if this feature existed: Maybe when people register their usernames have a large warning that recommends against having identifiable name (amongst other things like identifying yourself via details in the forum).

You specified that no name changes to an existing account were permitted but did not address his question as to the possibility of making another account. Also, it was not so much advice as it was a statement of the obvious.

Let's get real. This is an online forum not some governmental institution. If someone wants to create multiple accounts they will and there is little anyone can do about, nor would there be much harm in a few people doing so. He/she has a valid concern and if the moderators will not change his/her name then the only reasonable thing to do is to create another account.

I am sorry if in aiding a fellow member do what's best for themselves I have sinned. May lawstudents.ca have mercy on my soul.

I don't think it would have taken much thought to understand from my comment that a discussion was taking place and that when a decision was made by the Admins. that it would be communicated. Only one username has always been the policy and any change to that required the okay from an Admin/Mod. We've had many instances of people creating multiple usernames for a variety of reasons and it's almost always a PITA for those of us who are Mods. It's happened three or four times in the past couple of weeks alone and has taken up a lot of time for all of us. What we can do about it, and have done about it, is to suspend the posting ability of the individual or ban them totally. I don't think it's too much to ask for people to wait until Morgan has made his decision. If people would give more thought to what they're doing when they sign up, this wouldn't be an issue. We're working on a notification to that effect when someone joins. You wouldn't think it would be necessary for law school applicants.
