A lot of topics, especially in the Admissions category, are being repetitive, and I believe a lot of good information is being lost in the forums, as the topics make their way down.

How about a Wiki? It could have source of information for every school and the programs offered (with links to the programs and what not), as well as answers to the frequently asked questions. I don't know if there would be a real demand for this (and, also, a real offer), but I thought I would just throw this out there.

If this is something that's feasible, I would volunteer to help post information to the Wiki. I'm sure there are other users who, like me, have benefited from the advice/info on this forum and who'd be willing to help with entries as well.

As far as new users going to the Wiki before asking questions? I don't know if that would happen, but I guess someone could always link them to the appropriate entry...

Just 'thinking aloud' over here.

This is actually a very good idea.

I think we talked about it in Osgoode's off topic thread. It simply never attained fruition. Nevertheless it remains a great idea. I mean we could provide a link to Oxford seminars at least. It shows the medians to every school, the number of applicants and seats.

I think it would be better to start with a stickied FAQ (perhaps a general one, one for each school, one for NCA, etc), like Uriel's legal advice post. That would provide a greater degree of quality control.

Not all Wikis are open for anyone to edit. This Wiki could be either maintained by people picked by the administrators and that want to volunteer a bit of their time to build a certain knowledge base, or it could be open for anyone with a certain number of posts to edit.

I'm not sure that it should be open to anyone to edit. If the mods wouldn't mind controlling access to it, it might be best if we let them control it.

Morgan, any thoughts?

I like it! Would definitely be useful and save a lot of people some time. While as there is a lot of info on the forums, it's sometimes hard and tedious to sift through it all in order to find your answer, hence why we see many repeated questions (not that I mind procrastinating to answer them...) :D

agreed... it would be nice to have an up to date resource available for canadian law schools. There are ones out there for US schools but lawstudents.ca is pretty much the only one specific to Canada. It would be nice to have a repository to serve as a landing/starting point for questions.

I will likely be starting a Property Law & Contract Law thread sometime this week.
