  1. Trinity Western Loses 7-2

I mean, could you just imagine the chaos if instead of this being LGBTQ v Religion, it was instead Religion v Religion. If another student held a sincere belief that their religion consisted of poly-amorous, non-marital relationships... fun fun fun

To all the new law students, i If you have any questions feel free to DM myself. Also, join https://www.facebook.com/groups/1803356873043909/ for the class of 2021 group for news and updates.
  6. Are you a current UNB Law student???

Another UNB student here; looking forward to seeing you around campus! As far as I know the 2Ls are also in the mindset of really wanting to integrate the 1Ls in social events this upcoming year to create a more tightly knit school... so definitely don't feel shy to go up to any upper years - we all want you to have as an amazing experience we did in our first year. And some general advice to the other future 1Ls (that you will come to understand): - 1L Moot is actually not as bad as everyone makes it out to be and can actually be fun. - The professor's are human too, you can relate to them on more than mere academia. - Trivia on Thursday nights at the Capital Complex is ~LIT~. - Ask questions in class, but don't ask questions for the sake of asking questions. - The closest coffee is at the HIL library across the street from the law school. - One of the 2L's has a severe cucumber allergy (seriously don't bring any to Ludlow). - GET A GOOD WINTER JACKET. - Used textbooks are fine, especially since the professors explain the cases in class (still do *most* of your readings though). - Be open to learning how to study law, it is different than any undergrad. - Get involved! These are your friends and colleagues for at least the next 3 years. Be part of the community. "You are law babies" - Professor Thomson. "Im Professor Thomson and I love RuPaul's Dragrace." - also Professor Thomson
  7. 1L "Black Letter" Courses

Hello hello. Of course it depends where your applying to/what area of law the firm specializes in (and your own personal interests in an area of law), but are there particular 1L classes the 2L recruiters look at in terms of being more important? Are they all on an even pedestal? Curious as to what a *simple* ranking order of class priority for firms and/or public sector would look like. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks!
  8. 2L Jobs Nationwide - 1L Grades

Thanks for the replies!! Definitely alleviates some anxiety.
  9. 2L Jobs Nationwide - 1L Grades

  10. 2L Jobs Nationwide - 1L Grades

    UNB; they have a mandate for the GPA to fall between 2.7 - 3.0 for 1L. It's on a 4.3 scale (2.7 being a B-, 3.0 being a B, 3.3 being a B+). Fun fact: LaForest's daughter is our property prof.
  11. Hey everyone! Classic question (which everyone hates, sorry) but the season has arrived of all the first years receiving their final 1L grades. To perhaps relieve (or inflame) my anxiety; can I get an opinion on the competitiveness of my grades for 2L positions across the country? Key locations of interest are Bay Street, Vancouver, Calgary, and Halifax. Contracts: B- Property: B Legal Research & Advocacy: B+ Criminal: B+ Torts: A- Constitutional: B Softs include: work experience in the banking industry, government policy, and international work opportunities. Sizeable volunteering experience, varsity athlete ... and if it matters LGBTQ+ for *diversity*. GPA: 3.15 Class GPA: 2.80
