  1. Accepted to Alberta 2017

Keep not getting the notices for replies - did someone accept the request for you?

'Recommend' - didn't catch the autocorrect in time, sorry.

Whoops! Missed the reply. Very cool. There are 2 former JETs, including myself, that I know of. I was in Sendai for 4 years. I can't remember if the other guy was on Honshu or Kyushuu, though - somewhere a lot further south than I was, in any case.

Not sure if everyone knows or not, but there's a Facebook group set up for members of this class - University of Alberta Law Class 2020. If you don't have a Facebook account, I'd strongly recommending getting one. There are a lot of notices you miss out on otherwise!

Hey, which part of Japan are you coming from? Are you on JET?

Has your Beartracks been updated, so that your application status is set to "complete"? If not, it may be worth another email to see if they've received it yet or not (I would send it by email, so you have a record of when you inquired).

I don't know if this will be helpful to you or not. I got a phone call and email on March 3. My package arrived yesterday. I am about 15 minutes outside Edmonton. If you are going to the event on Saturday, perhaps there is someone you could ask there, if you haven't received it by then.
  8. Ask a 1L

Sorry - this is the post I was attempting to address. I wanted to suggest that you could inquire with a firm like Fraser Milner Cosgrain, which is now associated with Dentons. I have no idea what they are like to work with - my only experience, actually, was to hire one of their lawyers to deal with CRA for me. Dentons has branches in several cities Canada-wide and world-wide, so they may not be as concerned about flight risks.
  9. Ask a 1L

There are some multi-city firms. I know what was originally Fraser Milner Cosgrain is now connected to Dentons and has branches in Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver, not to mention worldwide. (Please note I am not yet a law student - accepted for 2016-2017 - but I do have some minimal interactive experience with a few firms through work!)

Sorry, trying to catch up. What are 'SLA/ SLS' and 'PBSC'? Thanks!
  11. Ask a 1L

No worries ... I'm about 10 years past that!

LSAT 161 L2 -? Not 100% sure, as my university was on a 12 point scale. Probably 3.2 or thereabouts.

My husband received a phone call today from the law society at the U of A, asking if I had any questions. I hadn't realised I'd received an offer, so was quite confused! I will be accepting, and am very eager and excited to meet everyone!
